I am literally such trash for the Drarry Eighth Year trope. Seriously. Give me Harry going back to school because he’s not sure what he’s supposed to do next. Give me Draco going back because he’s determined to do something with his life. Give me awkward meetings in the shared common room at 3am because neither of them can sleep, and quiet looks at the other, realising that they have nightmares too. Give me Harry watching Draco across the hall and noticing he barely eats, and Draco watching Harry and wondering why no one else comments on how unhappy he seems. Give me tentative hands touching by the common room fireplace and those first terrifying realisations that when they look at one another now, it feels different. Give me Ron and Hermione figuring it out first, Ron being exasperated and Hermione giving Harry those small, knowing smiles. Give me inter house unity parties and drinking games and drunken confessions of “I like you” and “yeah well I like you more, so there” and awkwardly avoiding one another the next day. Give me frustration at not spending time together until someone finally corners the other in an alcove, the tension building until one of them just SNAPS and pushes the other against the wall, kissing him like he’ll die without the taste of his lips. Give me Draco having his own room and inviting Harry back. Give me all the awkward first times, and all the slow, burning, brilliant ways these two idiots fall in love over and over again at Hogwarts after the war.
